Our Code of Conduct for Members

Bison Ice Sports Association (BISA) Code of Conduct

Bison Ice Sports Association is committed to promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants, including players, parents, coaches, volunteers, and supporters. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards expected of all members to ensure that our programs reflect the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, and community.

Member Expectations

All BISA members are expected to:

  1. Promote Respect & Sportsmanship
    • Treat players, officials, coaches, volunteers, and other participants with courtesy and respect at all times.
    • Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, bullying, or unsportsmanlike behavior, on or off the ice.

  1. Support a Safe & Positive Environment
    • Follow all safety protocols and facility rules.
    • Encourage clean, competitive play and discourage violence, retaliation, or inappropriate conduct.
    • Act as positive role models—especially around youth athletes.

  1. Honor Organizational Values
    • Represent BISA and its partners (including the Topeka Scarecrows) with pride and integrity.
    • Respect decisions made by BISA leadership, referees, and event staff.
    • Address conflicts through proper communication channels in a respectful and constructive manner.

  1. Protect Our Community & Resources
    • Help maintain the cleanliness and condition of facilities and equipment.
    • Avoid disruptive, aggressive, or intoxicated behavior at BISA events.

Code of Conduct Violations- Violations of the Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action, which may include:

  • Verbal Warning – For minor first-time infractions
  • Written Warning – Formal notice of unacceptable behavior
  • Suspension – Temporary removal from BISA events, activities, or facilities
  • Revocation of Membership – Permanent removal from BISA, with forfeiture of any membership benefits
  • Involvement of Authorities – For cases involving threats, violence, harassment, or illegal conduct

Disciplinary actions will be determined by the BISA Executive Committee and may vary depending on the severity and frequency of the offense.

Reporting Misconduct- Concerns or violations should be reported promptly to a BISA board member or through the official communication channel:
